Introduction to Workshop

How often do we as healthcare professionals face difficulties handling cases that land on the doorsteps of emergency? Handling cases of medicolegal background demands great tact , in association with good communication skills and a step wise assessment of all the information provided. Whilst documentation plays key role, one's sense of observation and experience plays a key role especially when such cases are to be discussed under the eye of the law in courts. We present a three hour hands-on session bringing this elaborate process under the keen eyes of a forensic expert, presented by the Forensic Medicine Department of KSHEMA lead by Dr Suraj Shetty.

Objectives:

  • Understanding the procedure of police intimation and gathering expert information for the same

  • Building communication skills to elicit history and conduct proper examination in medicolegal cases

  • Gaining insight as a forensic expert on court proceeding in medicolegal cases

Scope:

This workshop is for:

  • Medical professionals who are interested to work in the field of emergency medicine

  • Undergraduates who want to understand the working of courts in the field of medicine

  • Undergraduates interested in pursuing hospital management and administrative roles in medical set ups.

  • Experience real life cases in the emergency medicine department

  • An Eagle's eye view of the Role of Forensics in gathering information, and inculcating safe practices in medicine
